I recently received this Rally Light Bar from SSD Performance as a Christmas gift for my 2009 Subaru WRX. It is a chassis specific product so it will fit all Subaru Imprezas 2008-2011, and all WRX’s and STi’s 2008-2014. This light bar is everything an amateur adventurist, novice racer, or respectable car enthusiast would ever want or need.Key FeaturesThis light bar has top of the line construction and quality, anyone in the market for a rally light bar should be aware of its strength, light mounting capabilities, and ease of installation. What sets this light bar apart from the others is its engineering. Robust materials, solid welds, professional powder coating, and logical mounting systems are among the aspects that make this light bar stand above the competition. It’s constructed from carbon and stainless steel for corrosion prevention and strength. It has four light mounting tabs and comes with a license plate remounting plate in the event that you choose to move your license plate forward, or fill all 4 tabs with lights.Engineering and DesignAlmost every other rally light bar on the market under $400 mounts to the license plate screw holes, however, SSD Performance’s rally light bar mounts to the frame of the car (bumper/crash bar). This design allows for a more rigid structure and a stable platform for mounting lights. The tabs for mounting lights are evenly spaced, and allow for a good range of light sizes and shapes to be mounted. This rally light bar can handle anything from an LED light bar to four 6 inch round headlamps, and will be sure to meet all of your lighting needs.InstallationInstallation of the SSD Performance light bar is quite simple. SSD Performance provides a descriptive installation manual, with visuals that make the installation process easy to understand for anyone of any skill level. With one person working alone at a leisurely pace, you can expect the install to take about 2 hours, however, with two people you can cut the time down significantly. All mounting hardware is provided besides a 1/2” drill bit used to bore out pre-existing holes from 3/8” to 1/2”. Additionally, anyone with a stock 2008-2010 front bumper cover will have to cut two 1 1/2 inch plastic pieces from the lower center cutout on the bumper cover. Any serrated blade will do but a hacksaw works best. Everything else is self-explanatory or contained within the directions provided.ConclusionIf you decide to buy this rally light bar, you will be thrilled. The end result looks great and the structure is solid. The price is beyond fair when you take into account the advantages this rally light bar has over others, quality construction, logical engineering, and simple installation. Whether you’re looking to light up the road, add a layer of protection, or just striving for that classic rally car look, you will not be disappointed with SSD Performance’s product.DISCLAIMER!: The lights shown in the pictures are not included with this rally light bar.
